Why did I draw a portrait of Jamie Lee Curtis you might ask? Well, her face was all over Instagram and seemed like a good face to draw. Her thin lips were tough — don’t draw too much, don’t draw too little. I should have drawn more in the hair area, but there’s a balance between messy yet readable, i.e., there is no doubt who the subject is but too much fine detail and the messiness feels less genuine. Sacrifice refined hair and hand to keep the focus on the face.
